Sumba Island bronze dowery bracelets 300-500 years old, excellent wabi sabi patina.
These bracelets would have been used as an offering during a tradditioan Sumbanese or Tau Humba ethnic wedding. Sumbanese are an Austronesian people with distinct cultural, linguistic, and, in many cases, animist traditions. They are renowned for their Marapu ancestral religion, intricate ikat weaving, and, in areas of this remote island, the continued practice of constructing megalithic limestone carvings that are completly unique to the Sumba island peoples.
