One of a Kind, Old World Antiques at our Solana Beach location
This picture gallery represents a small sampling of the hundreds of antiques we have in our collection. Each piece is a unique old world treasure full of history chosen and brought back by David Alan and his hand picked team. Each antique has it’s own story and is selected because it is different from the antiques we see frequently.
In contrast to our primitive and rustic collections, we have Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Art & Crafts (Craftsman) antiques.
The Antiques in Our Gallery are Hand Picked from all Over the World
While traveling throughout South East Asia we’ve collected an amazing array of old world treasures. Each piece is a unique old world treasure full of history. Our collection does not include reproductions. Each original piece is collected in the field (Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, Japan, and many others). Every piece is individually selected in its country of origin.

Art Nouveau and Art Deco Antiques
Art Nouveau, or the New Art, was popular between 1890 and 1910. Curvy shapes and flowing lines of the female form and flowers inspired the jewelry, furniture, architecture, and graphics of the time. The artistic output of several cultures influenced the style, such as Celtic, Islamic, and Japanese.
Art Deco was an art and design movement from 1920 – 1930 internationally. Typically, machine made, the aesthetic used line and symmetry to bring direction to the fast-paced industrial age. Art Deco was in direct contrast to the naturalistic, organic sensibility of Art Nouveau.
The David Alan Collection is home to numerous treasures produced during the early 1900’s.
19th and 2oth Century Antique Furniture
The Arts & Crafts movement began late in the 19th century and lasted until 1910. It originated as a response to the “cold” machine design and manufacturing of the Art Deco era.
Refined furniture treasures abound within the David Alan Collection. We have a wide-ranging furniture selection from the 19th and 20th centuries made from solid teak and rosewood. These pieces were originally created for Europeans living in the tropics. The astonishing beauty of original carved details are a site to behold.
Inspired, Unique Additions to our Antique Gallery
Our Solana Beach Gallery is home to 1000’s of unique pieces. Included among them are beautiful accent art. Ranging from antique mortars used to produce food in the villages to original European plates and crystal.
All collected in the field from the country of their origin, village and ethnic antiquities are a glimpse of the past for us to observe. Primitive village pieces allow us a view of the early stages in the evolutionary development of a society or culture.
